Huckeby Open Space
The Huckeby Open Space was purchased in 2011 by the CB South POA as a conservation easement held in partnership with the Crested Butte Land Trust, and protects high quality wetlands and diverse habitat in perpetuity. Visitors are welcome to enjoy this quiet easement.

A Habitat for Wildlife and Recreation
The Huckeby Conservation Area provides habitat for species of Southern Rocky Mountain wildlife. In this parcel you may see elk, mule deer, red fox, coyote, ducks, Canada geese, great blue herons, hawks and various species of songbirds.
Brown trout, rainbow trout and numerous aquatic insects can be found in the East River or the nearby pond bordering Cement Creek Road. Pollinators, wildflowers and plants are present here as well as trees such as alders and willows that line the East River. There is also an area of spruce and fir forest at the northern end of the property.
